PHP MyAdmin Backup/Restore Instructions

This tutorial assumes you use a commercial web host and that host has phpMyAdmin installed. The exact instructions may vary from server to server. Please note that we are not endorsing phpMyAdmin and we hold no liabilities for the information provided below.

Backup Your Database

1. Select phpMyAdmin in your web host's control panel.

2. Select your database name from the top left corner of the left frame (under "Home").

3. Select the Export tab in the top of the page.

4. Where it reads: View dump (schema) of database, select all tables in the database by clicking on the first table in the list, pressing and holding Shift, and selecting the last table in the list. (Windows instructions.)

5a. You should have selected the following table list for the Basic Catalog:
                             Shop_Categories
                             Shop_Items
                             Shop_Options
                             Shop_Vars

5b. You should have selected the following table list for the Deluxe Catalog:
                             Shop_Categories
                             Shop_Defaults
                             Shop_Items
                             Shop_Options
                             Shop_Prices
                             Shop_Related
                             Shop_Vars
                             Shop_Wholesale

6. Select the Structure and Data radio button to the right of the list.

7. Select the check box next to Save As File.

8. Select Go.

9. A pop up window will appear, asking you to select a location on your local computer to store your backup. Select Save, choose your location and save the database file.

10. Your backup is complete.

Restore Your Database

1. Select phpMyAdmin in your web host's control panel.

2. Select your database name from the top left corner of the left frame (under "Home").

3. Select the SQL tab in the top of the page.

4. Where it reads: Or Location of the textfile, click the Browse button and select the SQL file you saved when you backed up the database in the above step.

5. Select Go.

6. Your restore is complete.
