Reseller Program - How Does It Work?

We try to make it very easy for resellers to make money using our systems. We offer resellers free sales licenses and demos, and have a co-op program to help with marketing costs. We allow you to completely brand the system as your own, selling it at whatever cost you want. And we don't even sell one of our best selling reseller systems to the general public!

One of our most-asked questions is how the whole process works. To give you an idea of what you can expect, here's a step by step of the reseller process.

1. Sign Up: There is no cost to sign up as a reseller. Nor is there any obligation to purchase licenses. However, we do have one big qualification. To become a reseller, you must have a web design, development or hosting company, with a site that contains a client portfolio and service list, so that we can be sure your intentions are to resell our systems.

2. Brand The System: Most resellers want to brand our systems as their own, and while optional, this is perfectly fine as per the terms of service. What we mean here is that you can add your own company name, logo, colors, etc. to the system and sell it under your own system name. There are no traces back to OptionCart, and we do not initiate contact with your clients.

4. Sell The System: Create a page, subdirectory or subdomain on your site, or create a brand new site, and add your branded system for sale. You can sell it directly, sell it as an installed piece, include it with templates, include it as part of your web hosting account, or sell it as best fits your needs. However, you cannot offer the item as a download or on a CD unless you get permission from us first - the system must be inside a password protected directory, and any order automation approved by us before use.

   Note: we provide free sales licenses for those web pros who are only selling their branded OptionCart systems. Free licenses are also provided for demos, non profit groups and co-op sales use. To qualify or for additional information, please see the reseller area.

5. Get Your Licenses: A system license must be purchased from OptionCart for every license you sell. Most resellers choose to purchase licenses as they receive orders. In other words, if a client purchases a system from you, then you would acess our reseller area and purchase a license for that site. After purchase, an unlock code is added to your reseller area, which you can pull and use when setting up the system. (This happens about five minutes after an order is placed for regular resellers; new resellers have a wait time for the first two licenses.)

   Optional! We do offer a bulk license option for those resellers who want to purchase licenses ahead of time and apply them as they need them, without a wait. When purchasing licenses, just select the bulk license type you prefer. Your licenses will be noted as 'Available' in the license list in your reseller area. When you're ready to use them, just click the 'Available' link and apply them to the web site as needed.

6. Install The Script: You'll need to set up the script on any site that needs to use it. Again, you will need to purchase a license for each site that wishes to use the system. After setup, you'll use the unlock code you received after purchasing the license to unlock the script and allow your client to use it.

7. Support: We offer full email support for all resellers. Please note, though, that we do not offer support to your clients. If your clients have a question you can't answer, you are welcome to ask us; however, we will not answer support questions posted directly by your clients. If you would like us to answer your clients' questions directly, instead of signing up as a reseller, use our affiliate program and send your clients directly to us to purchase the script. You'll get a 10% commission, and we'll handle support inquiries.
